Are there some vinyl choices that would look right with the high-end kitchen I have planned?

Answer: Today’s vinyl is much more sophisticated in design and texture than the flooring product you probably remember from your childhood. As this photo shows, vinyl can mimic tile or even stone very closely.

Vinyl is definitely still a great product choice in a kitchen. You’re right that the cushioning provided by this type of flooring works particularly well in a room that demands a lot of standing.

Another advantage to vinyl is the easy clean up. Just a damp cloth or a quick sweep with a mop takes care of the floor. Spills are simply no problem. A floor such as this one will help disguise spots until you can clean them up.

Finally, vinyl is still a very cost-effective flooring choice. Its reasonable price per square foot allows you to select one of the higher grades while still saving some of your flooring money to splurge somewhere else.

From a resale perspective, you will do better choosing a vinyl floor in a neutral that will work no matter how you accessorize your kitchen. Other than that, remember, there are no rules about what you put in your own home. You will be the one using the kitchen, so select a floor that is useful for you as well as attractive.

Well, the first thing you should know about vinyl floor covering is that it’s also called resilient flooring. That’s because these floors have resilience or “give” to them when walked on. And they give you plenty of reasons to consider them for your home.

Vinyl floors the others in versatility. Want choice? You got it. No other floor covering offers the spectrum of styles, colors, textures and patterns as vinyl sheet flooring and luxury vinyl tile (LVT). Today’s manufacturing methods can even replicate the look of ceramic tile, stone and wood grains.

Vinyl stands up to life and living. Yours included. Durable vinyl flooring easily takes the knocks of life, for years and years, while keeping its beauty under heavy foot traffic. It resists moisture and stains, cleans up easily.

Vinyl covers safety and health issues. Slip-retardant surfaces are available for vinyl installed near showers and in your kitchen. Are you or someone allergy-prone? Vinyl doesn’t give dust a home to get comfy in.

Vinyl is easy on your pocketbook. (Now we’re talking, right?) The installed cost of vinyl is attractive and lifetime maintenance costs are low.

FYI, Here’s a list of ALL THE BENEFITS OF VINYL FLOOR COVERING:

• Vinyl offers you great variety and design flexibility

• Vinyl can “mimic” pricier ceramic tile, stone, wood

• Vinyl delivers durability and wear ability underfoot

• Vinyl resists moisture, stains, and cleans up easily

• Vinyl can be slip resistant and an allergy ally

• Vinyl is a good value, from installation to upkeep

• Vinyl is a smart choice for the do-it-yourselfer
